ST-Ericsson is an industry leader in design, development, and the creation of cutting-edge mobile platforms and wireless semiconductors. Working within the R&D arm of Connectivity Solutions (COS), the GNSS IP Team is responsible for the Specification, Architecture and Software Development of core GNSS (GPS, SBAS, GLONASS, QZSS, Galileo etc.) and Assisted-GNSS components.
The key focus for COS is to drive GNSS into the cellular and portable markets. The GNSS IP Software team is based in Daventry UK. The Daventry team works closely with other Connectivity competence teams in Zaventem (Belgium), Sophia (France) and Bangalore (India). ST-Ericsson is searching for an experienced self-motivated engineer to join the GNSS Architecture Group to help with the design, development and testing of its core GNSS and A-GNSS software intellectual property. The team is responsible for developing solutions for ST-Ericsson’s range of GNSS & A-GNSS products primarily focused at the cellphone and smartphone markets. This requires close interactions with Marketing, System S/W and Applications, RTL Design and RF Design teams. Some travel to other ST-Ericsson and customer sites will be required. MAIN JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES The role, as a technical expert for the System and Architecture development of the GNSS System, includes the following key responsibilities: 1. Provide System architectural and technical development for GNSS Systems Design 2. Generation of Models of GPS signal processing to support system and software development 3. Algorithmic Analysis Specification and Modelling for GPS acquisition, tracking, multipath, jamming, rf path etc. 4. Testing of algorithms by modelling or by live testing 5. Analysis of “real life” performance trials and captured data 6. Generation of trial algorithms to improve performance and fix problems JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS Technical: • In-depth background in Location Measurement Technologies, preferably satellite based, GPS, GNSS, etc. • Detailed knowledge of architecture of GPS, Glonass and Galileo Location systems • System Modelling and Algorithm Design for GNSS Systems • Experience in Matlab/Simulink/C and Methodologies for System Design. • Experienced in structured analysis/structured design methodology. • Experienced in the use of good software methodologies and practices. • Familiarity with scripting languages. Desirable: • Familiarity with GLONASS, SBAS, QZSS and Galileo signals and measurement processing. • Familiarity with Spirent GPS/GNSS simulators, ULTS and ULTS-ADS. • Familiarity with GNSS Measurement Engine techniques. • Familiarity with MS Visual Studio, with GUI experience helpful.
